Al-Aqsa Mosque Preacher Urges Honoring Memory of Gaza Martyrs on Eid

IQNA – Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the Al-Aqsa Mosque's preacher, called on the people of Palestine to avoid celebrations on the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha in sympathy with the people of Gaza.

He advised them to just do religious rituals such as performing the Salah of Eid, sacrificing animals and visiting relatives.  

Sheikh Sabri urged the people of Palestine to honor the memory of the martyrs of Gaza on Eid, Al Jazeera reported.

Eid al-Adha, which falls on Monday, June 17, this year, is one of the most important Islamic festivals held after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

Also known as the sacrifice feast, it is celebrated to honor the dedication and willingness of Prophet Abraham (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of submission on God’s command.

Sheikh Sabri’s remarks come as the death toll from the Israeli regime’s ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has exceeded 37,000.

Many of those killed in the Israeli attacks on Gaza are women and children.
